Much painful recovery than it really should have. Performed full backup (c: & d:) from single drive partial recovery before attempting to bring back mirror. Mirror failed using gui. Success outside operating system (reboot).

Now able to access & backup corrupted raid 1 (extremely disappointed by this failure – this is NOT supposed to happen w/such a simple & well established technology). Desktop c: & d: as data drives (f: & g:). Additional safety backup via acronis?
